Apa itu Simple present tense? Secaraumum, simple present tense merupakan salah satu bentuk English Tenses yangmenerangkan suatu hal secara umum. Biasanya, kita menggunakan simple presenttense untuk menerangkan hal yang berlangsung secara rutin, suatu fakta,perasaan dan juga kebiasaan.

State facts or general truth
Simple present tense digunakan untuk
menerangkansuatu hal / kondisi / fakta yang bersifat umum .
Contoh:
The sun risesin the morning (This istrue. The sun NEVER rises at night)
Matahari terbitdi pagihari (Hal iniadalah fakta, yaitu bahwa matahari TIDAK PERNAH terbit pada malam hari)
Nurses lookafter patients inhospitals (It is nurses' JOB to look after and take care of their patients)
Para perawat bertugas untuk merawat pasien di rumahsakit (Sudah merupakan tugas seorang perawat untuk merawat pasien mereka)
Present habit
Simple present tense digunakan untuk
menerangkansuatu kebiasaan yang berlangsung dalam jangka waktu yang lama atau rutin.
Contoh:
I usually go tothe office at 7.00 in the morning (Everyday I go at 7.00 am, NOT at 8.00 am)
Saya biasanyaberangkat ke kantor pukul 7.00 pagi
(Setiap hari saya berangkat kantor tepat jam 7.00, BUKANjam 8.00)
John plays soccer everySaturday (EverySaturday John and his friends DEFINITELY play soccer together)
John bermain bola setiaphari Sabtu (Setiaphari Sabtu John dan teman - temannya PASTI bermain bola bersama)
Activities and events that happen frequently or regularly
Simple present tense menerangkan suatuaktivitas yang berlangsung secara teratur.
Contoh:
My school always hasa holiday concert in December(So every December, I WILL have a school holiday because of the concert)
Sekolah saya selalu libursetiap konser di bulan Desember (Jadisetiap bulan Desember sekolah saya PASTI akan meliburkan para siswanya)
Tom's company publishes a corporatereport every month (Tom's company always publish a MONTHLY report)
Perusahan tempat Tom bekerja
selalumempublikasikan laporan perusahaan setiap bulan (Perusahaan Tom selalu menerbitkanlaporan BULANAN)
Present or usual states, feelings, and conditions
Present simple tense digunakan untuk
menerangkansuatu kondisi, perasaan atau pernyataan umum.
Contoh:
Susan feelscomfortable whenlistening to the music (Music BRINGS enjoyment and comfort to Susan)
Susan selalu merasatenang saat iamendengarkan alunan musik (Musik MEMBAWA ketenangan dalam diri Susan)
Kata kerja dari Simple present tensesekilas terlihat sama dengan kata kerja dasar, namun begitu biasanya harus ditambahkandengan akhiran -s, -es, atau -ies untuk kata ganti orang ketiga tunggal (yaitu He, She, It).
Secara umum, rumusan dari Simplepresent tense dapat dibentuk sebagai berikut:
+      Subject + Verb (s/es/ies) + object
I/You/We/They like coffee
He/She/It likes coffee
-        Subject + Auxiliary Verb (do/does) + not + verb + object
I/You/We/They do not / don't like coffee
He/She/It does not / doesn't like coffee
